First Annual Townsend Trout Fest

June 5-6, 2004

The Little River Chapter of Trout Unlimited is hosting the 1st Annual Trout Festival in Townsend, Tennessee June 5th & 6th, 2004 at the Townsend Visitors Center

A Festival Banquet & Live Auction will be held on Saturday Night June 5th at Maple Leaf Lodge in Townsend

Tickets will be available for purchase prior to the festival weekend.

This festival is a fund raiser to continue preserving and protecting the rivers and streams in the Great Smoky Mountains National Park. Trout Unlimited plans to raise money through the booth rentals and on the banquet & auction. Talk of a casting contest is also on the table. All proceeds will be used for Cold Water Conservation in the Great Smoky Mountains National Park and Little River Watershed.

The Townsend Visitors Center will be the site and the crew that organizes local festivals through the Chamber of Commerce have offered their expertise to help us make this a great event!!!! We hope this is the first of many festivals to come!

Do you know someone that might be interested in setting up a booth at the festival?

Let me tell you what we're looking for.
We are looking for vendors that are

- artists
- crafters
- rod builders
- fly tyers
- sculptors & potters
- photographers, etc...
- and of course anything that has to do with fishing & trout

Vendors that have a connection to the mountains, trout or nature in general. We are hoping to attract great vendors for the booths at this festival.

Also - We are looking for donated items to be auctioned off at the live auction on Saturday Night.

Donations for the live auction can be just about anything - Items starting in the $50 range are suggested - Jewelry, art, a canoe, a weekend stay at a Bed & Breakfast or cabin, Specialty gift baskets, gift certificates to a spa or restaurant, guided fishing trips, rods, reels, clothing, tools, etc. We would prefer all donated items for the auction be NEW and NOT USED items.

Since this is our first festival, the booth rental will be VERY affordable.

We are hoping to keep the booth rentals between $50 & $100.
If you are part of an organization that is environmentally minded, we want you there.
If you are on a board and would like to sell food to raise money for your organization, we want you there.

Trout Unlimited will not be setting up food at the festival. We would like those of you that come to the Old Timer's Festival to raise monies through food sales to come to our festival too! Just one more opportunity to get involved in the Townsend community, help preserve and protect our beautiful park and raise money for your organization.

All booth entries will be juried. We will not be accepting vendors that sell things like doggie clothing and hula hoops. (Now if there is a vendor that sells backpacking gear for dogs, something like that may be accepted) We want all of the booths to be nature/outdoor related.

Please forward this email to anyone you know that might be interested in getting involved - renting a booth or donating items for the auction. We are putting together an entry form and info packet for those interested in being booth vendors and would like to mail a packet to them.
